Your Side Now
My husband kindly informed me that I haven’t updated my blog in about 10 years. While it hasn’t been quite that long, I appreciate the concern because it has been quite some time since I’ve regaled you with any good yarns of my life. Honestly, I haven’t had much interesting to say.
In order to catch you up quickly, and also utilize my time efficiently, I’m going to use bullet points today.
Workouts. I’m working out regularly again. Although I’ve only made it to CrossFit a handful of times at 5am, I have went. That is key. I miss my usual morning crew dreadfully, especially my trainer Brian, but inevitably something prevents me from getting there. I’m averaging 3 times a week for CrossFit and then a couple days just dedicated to running or rowing. I’ve also tried a new workout called Insanity to mix in there for additional cardio benefit.
Rowing. My new love/hate relationship. If you haven’t tried it before I would recommend it. It’s a great workout and also great punishment for not having lungs and legs of steel. I have a lot of work to do in this area.
Ryan. I’ve fallen in love with my husband all over again. He’s amazing. He somehow manages to put up with all my weird tendencies, mood swings, and workout schedule. Even though he yells at the TV/computer a bit too much during sporting events and I make him go to another room, he loves me still. Even though I’m forcing him to make healthy choices in his diet, he loves me still. Even though he has to clean out the cat boxes every day and I forget to do it when he’s gone, he loves me still. Even when I try on 5 different outfits and am still not happy with the outcome, he still tells me I’m the most beautiful thing. He’s a good man, Charlie Brown.
Addiction. I have a new addiction to buying books online for my nook. It’s just too easy. It is becoming a “Hello, my name is Sarah and I am addicted to books” type addiction. I’ve curbed the habit lately but like an itch it will come back. So, if you’d like to donate to the Funding Sarah’s Book Addiction fund, please let me know.
Dexter. I’m halfway through Season 3 of this show. When I have had a spare hour I have given it to Dexter and his wicked bloody ways.
Cat updates. Jerome “Jerry” our precious three-legged cat has recovered from the neutering and de-clawing that we put him through a week ago. He got over the neutering a lot faster than the claws. He still walks, well, hobbles, pretty gingerly on those feet. George Carlos “Georgie” my sweet baby is doing great. He has taken a new closeness to me and tends to follow me everywhere I go. He’s insanely ornery and I love every whisker on his head. Callie “Callie Cat” is suffering from a bad case of feline acne right now so we’re giving her chin some peroxide treatments. She just loves that. (That last statement was dripping in sarcasm.) Callie Cat has gotten more independent since the addition of Jerry. She likes to stay by herself and sleep. Considering that she is 6 years older than both Georgie and Jerry that makes sense.
Basketball Games. Ry and I have attended several of our alma mater’s basketball games at Southwest Baptist University. While both the men’s and women’s teams have struggled recently, I’m still proud and can see improvement all the time. They are all good kids and great players.
That, my friends, pretty much sums everything up. I’ve had my ups and downs emotionally but I just keep trying to remember that throughout it all God is still holding onto me. I have to have faith in all things, in all situations, in all emotions. One of my desires in life is to shine God’s light in all the dark places. I’m not effectively shining the light if I’m only doing it when I’M happy. That’s just a joke.
“A singer starts by having his instrument as a gift from God. When you have been given something in a moment of grace, it is sacrilegious to be greedy.”
- Marian Anderson

Addiction: Did you know that you can go sit at Barnes & Noble and read all of a book for free? I’m sure you did, and I know you’re busy, but it’s a nice way to get to enjoy a book for free.
Dexter: I need to watch the most recent season. Rob and I are trying to stay away from anything giving away what we’ve heard is a surprise ending. Didn’t know you liked Dexter too.
Yeah for the update Sarah!!! Man, you are still a rock star in my book for just getting up and going 3 days a week!! Is Ry coming with to New Orleans?? Would love to see him again!
I have heard several people comment on Dexter. I must put that on my netflix now!
