Whatever Gets You Through Today

Week 2 Day 10: It is getting easier to turn down the sugary choices.  I will admit, however, that you have to plan out your day and the food choices therein.  Leaving things up to chance is when you run into problems.  I battled through a migraine yesterday morning and it was awful trying to 1) eat and 2) eat the things I needed to.  I am fully aware that I didn’t eat enough food yesterday.  I need to get back on track today.  Ashley gave me a piece of a delectable banana dessert (and a pineapple one too) that she made and I cannot wait to have some more of it tonight.  I snuck in a bite after the gym this morning just to test it.  I approve.

Despite the lingering headache, I still went to the CrossFit gym last night and did the workout.  And rowed.  The workout for the day was perfectly awful:

“Bumper to Bumper”

50 weighted squats (25lbs)

50 lateral jumps (over 25lb bumper)

50 weighted push ups (25lb plate)

200m run with 25lb plate overhead

200m of lunges with 25lb plate overhead

I swear to you, on those lunges I didn’t think I was EVER going to get back to the gym.  Two-hundred meters is a long way when you’re lunging with weight.  The gym was like a mirage.  Cars were passing our group on the street and giving us looks of incredulity at our task.  I felt pretty incredulous for having to do such a thing also.  In the end I made it.  I made did the whole workout in 23 minutes to be exact.  And then I rowed 10,000m.  Before you say anything, yes, I am that crazy person.

Just to prove I am that crazy, I got up and went to the gym again this morning.  I am addicted.  That’s the long and the short of it.  I simply adore the feeling of lifting more than I have before, of movements coming easier to me, and the endorphins that a fantastic workout give you.  Today’s workout was this:

2 rounds for time of :

100 sit-ups

1 mile run

It took me 20-something minutes (I think).  I honestly don’t remember.   Either way, I will now add sore abdominals to the list of sore body parts.

I’m not going to row tonight because I “get” to mow the yard.  Do you like how I phrased that?  I get to mow the yard rather than I have to mow the yard?  It will be the first mow job of the year therefore it will be extra tough and yucky.  It has begun.  I think my shoulders will get enough of a workout pushing that mower around my junky yard instead of rowing.  I will do enough rowing to make up for it on Friday and Saturday.

So you all know about this rowing challenge that my gym has signed up to do.  I’ve talked about it before.  As a gym, we are about 1,000,000m behind the team in front of us.  Now, granted our team has 15 members and theirs has over a million, but still.  We’re competitive and I’ll do whatever I can to push us to win some prizes for the gym.  Anyway, we decided a while back that we would do a Row-a-thon in order to get lots of meters really fast.  A two-person team has to row at least 100,000m.  The row-a-thon got moved to this weekend.  Yikes.  That is a long way.  We can cut the difference we’re behind if we have all of our rowers full of members.  In order for me to pull my weight for the team that is at least 5+ hours of rowing.  Here goes nothing!  The challenge ends on April 15!  I will probably be live tweeting, so if you want some snarky comments follow me at @sarahthequeen1.

In my last adventure for the day I have to go to the dentist for some fillings.  Maybe that will be one more positive to giving up sugar?  No more cavities?

TODAY I LOVE: dryer sheets and safety pins
